It’s not just nice to have

Figures from e-skills UK demonstrate the urgent business need underpinning the Skills Academy.

  • Making the most of IT could boost the UK economy by £35 billion, but only if we have develop world-leading technology skills.
  • More than 1.5 million people work in IT and telecoms. Each year the sector takes on 110,000 new recruits into IT professional roles, and nearly two in three of them are required to move straight into demanding senior level jobs.
  • Currently, fewer than one in four IT professionals will have received job-related training in the past three months.
