For employers

The National Skills Academy for IT is being set up to enable all organisations to increase their business value by lifting the skills of their IT staff.

The Skills Academy will help you manage your IT talent more effectively by giving you a deeper understanding of what IT skills you have – and need – in your business. It will help you sharpen your IT recruitment and bring new focus to your training and development plans.

The Skills Academy will offer employers:

  • a way in to best-fit, best-value training, which will reduce training costs as well as improve the return on your investment
  • the opportunity for your IT staff to draw up meaningful skills profiles for you to use in your talent planning
  • formal recognition for employees’ qualifications using the Skills Academy’s professional certificates access to innovative new resources only available through the Skills Academy
  • the chance to develop the skills of first jobbers such as apprentices, graduate trainees as well as experienced staff
  • an opportunity to have your own learning and development courses endorsed and made available to a wider audience.

What about smaller firms?

The Skills Academy will help smaller firms see what professional IT skills look like and enable them to grow their own talent more easily. They will have access to government subsidies and to cutting edge training that is often only available to the largest employers.

Getting training right brings business benefit

Securing best-fit, best-value training for IT professionals will inevitably bring a stronger, more engaged workforce that is better able to meet the demands of fast changing markets. The result will be a more agile, competitive business.
