.NET Developer
The .NET Developer Apprenticeship:
- trains Apprentices to become junior web and software developers
- focuses on C# programming language
- develops Apprentices to be useful in development role after 6 months
- provides the employer with the choice of an extra individually selected developer certification for their Apprentice
Certification
Your Apprentice will achieve the following technical skills:
- Object oriented programming using C#
- Investigating and defining requirements
- Data modelling incl. SQL server skills
These technical skills are included in the official e-skills UK Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals, which also contains:
- City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in IT Professional Competence, including:
- Interpersonal and written communication
- City and Guilds Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles:
- Ensures the apprentice has a sound understanding of key concepts and principles
How is the learning delivered?
- The Apprentice will receive 8 weeks of residential, instructor-led learning.
- The first 4 weeks of the Apprenticeship is the “C# Programming boot camp”.
- The Apprentice then receives 3 further individual weeks of residential training.
- The Apprentice will then take the extra developer course selected by the employer, including a certification exam.
- Learning is delivered at a residential training centre in Reading.
- The Apprentice will be in the workplace full-time after the boot camp.
- On the job coaching and assessment
- Apprentices are supported and assessed in the workplace to prove their competence.
- Apprentices will receive remote tutor support to help them with technical subjects.
Costs
- Wages –£ 150 per week recommended – c.£8,000 per annum
- Travel and subsistence expenses for residential training – allow £4000
- Funding for training is 100% free for 16 -18 yr olds, as it is government funded.
- If 19+ an employer training contribution will be required of £3,000
How long will it last?
- On average, the programme will last 10 months, but varies depending on each Apprentice.
- The objective is that, after achieving their apprenticeship qualifications, Apprentices stay in your business. We recommend that you review their pay and benefits in line with the market rate for their skills and their contribution to your business.
