Access the IT professional standards

The IT professional standards meet employers’ needs to make sure the UK has the right technology-related skills in a changing global economy.

The standards establish common terminology for describing IT disciplines including competence, knowledge and understanding statements that can be used and applied as appropriate.

The IT professional standards are:

  • a common, sector-wide terminology for describing IT professional disciplines
  • developed by employers, professional bodies and e-skills UK
  • provide the framework for more detailed specification by discipline and level, building on the IT National Occupational Standards (NOS)
