Privacy and Cookie policy

The National Skills Academy for IT is committed to creating a website that is easy to use and is respectful of the users’ privacy. This privacy and cookie policy explains how we use information we collect about you and how you can instruct us if you prefer to limit the use of such information.

Currently we operate an ‘implied consent’ policy which means that we assume you are happy with this usage. If you are not happy, then you should either not use this site, or you should delete The National Skills Academy for IT's cookies having visited the site. Need for personal information

Personally identifiable information is not required to obtain access to any part of our public sites, but if you choose to withhold such information where it is expressly required, we may not be able to:-

  • process any order for learning materials or other product you have placed

  • save any settings or input you may have made to any of our services
  • share with your chosen third parties any settings or input you may have made to any of our services

Information gathered

We collect three types of information from you:-

  • information you submit to us
  • information you choose to share
  • information our site gathers automatically

Information you submit

We will use your information, If you wish, and where available:-

  • to allow you and others you allow to access certain areas of the website
  • to allow you to purchase learning materials or other products
  • to register your interest in any promotions, projects, services, competitions etc offered on the website
  • to allow us to contact you
  • to save any settings or input you may have made to any of our services
  • to share with your chosen third parties any settings or input you may have made to any of our services
  • to, as controlled by you,  stop sharing with your chosen third parties any settings or input you may have made to any of our services we provide to you.

We will normally require you to complete a registration form. Our registration form requires some basic information including: contact information (name, address, and phone number), and payment information (if applicable) needed to process your order, register or enable us to contact you. There are also some non-required fields on our registration form that you may use to provide more data about yourself to help us serve you better.  We do not store credit card details nor do we share customer payment details with any third parties.

By entering your details on any of the forms at www.itskillsacademy.ac.uk , and by making any changes to settings to any of our services we provide to you, you hereby confirm that the National Skills Academy for IT may use such information for our internal business purposes including: monitoring enquiries, compiling enquiry statistics and providing such information to any group company or sponsor of the National Skills Academy for IT. If you do not wish for your details to be used for this purpose you should not complete the registration details. Nothing in this section affects your rights under the Data Protection Act 1998. 

When filling out a form on this website, if you wish to be contacted by the National Skills Academy for IT about other services and information of potential interest and benefit to you and/or your organisation, you will be given the opportunity to tick the "opt-in" box provided at the end of each form.

Information you choose to share

You may choose, (and you control):-

  • to share certain information you have selected or entered  with third parties you have chosen (e.g. colleagues, employers, friends, etc.) by creating a link which allows access to this information
  • to stop this link which will prevent that link from working

Once you have created a link to share information (you have selected or entered) this information will be available to anyone with this link. You control who has access to this link. We take no responsibility if those third parties who have access to this link allow others to view the information or gain access, please ensure you are satisfied that the persons you allow access will not abuse this privilege.

Information our site gathers automatically

Usage tracking

We welcome everyone to search and use our site, without charge, to view the information and materials available for purchase or made available free of charge. As you browse our website we may log your IP address (the Internet address of your computer not the e-mail address) and other standard tracking data to evaluate which parts of our site you visit and how long you stay there. This information is aggregated with tracking data from all site visitors to measure the number of visits, average time spent on the website, pages viewed, etc.

We use aggregated information to help us evaluate the information, training materials and other products and services, including any new offerings we make available on our website, and to measure the use of our site and generally improve the content. Site use tracking data and aggregated data entered by users is never associated with individually identifiable information that would reveal anything personal about you.

Cookies

Like many other websites, the National Skills Academy for IT may use standard technology known as 'cookies' to collect information about how you use the site and to ensure that visits go smoothly, especially if you are placing an order for training materials or other products.

Click through URLs

In some of our customer email communications, we may use a device called a "click-through URL." When you click on one of these URLs, you pass through our system before arriving at the website that is your true destination. The National Skills Academy for IT uses click-throughs to determine the level of interest in particular topics and to measure the effectiveness of our communications. We do not share this data with anyone, and we make no attempt to match click-throughs to particular email addresses.

Email tracking

Some emails that we send you have no tracking in at all e.g. support or service emails. Other emails we send include tracking so that we can tell how much traffic those emails send to our site. Some emails we can track, at an individual level, whether the user has opened and clicked on the email. If you want to be sure that none of your email activity is tracked then you should opt out of The National Skills Academy for IT's emails which you can do via My Profile once logged in.

Use of information

We will only use any personally identifiable information to, where applicable:-

  • process an order where online ordering is available
  • register your interest in the National Skills Academy for IT learning materials and other products, projects, competitions, awards or services or the National Skills Academy for IT offers
  • improve our ability to serve you when you make an inquiry or request
  • contact you where you have asked us to do so
  • market our learning materials, products or services
  • pass on to our suppliers for their marketing purposes subject to your consent
  • upon your request, pass on to our suppliers for them to contact you to process an order
  • provide ongoing monitoring or support in relation to any courses.

If you purchase products through our site we use your registration information to process your order(s) and to send you an email about your orders. If you submit credit card information, we use that information to collect payment for your orders. The National Skills Academy for IT uses encryption technology to attempt to protect your credit card details, however, the National Skills Academy for IT cannot guarantee that such technology is totally private or secure. If you would prefer to make payment by another method please contact us to discuss this aspect.

The information you provide or we obtain from you via the National Skills Academy for IT website will be held primarily by the National Skills Academy for IT Limited. You agree that we may show the information you provide to such of our employees as need to see it and may pass the registration and subscription data you provide to our suppliers either to enable them to complete transactions you request, or, where you consent, for the purposes of marketing their products and services.

We may also provide individually identifiable information to third parties in any case where it is required by law. 
It is the National Skills Academy for IT’s policy not to disclose any individually identifiable information about site users to third parties without specific permission to do so. We do not sell users' names or email addresses to other companies to use to send unsolicited advertisements or mail.

You hereby agree that we may use all or any part of your information and combine it with other user’s information to produce anonymised statistical data which we may use internally or share with third parties. Such data will not identify you or any other user personally. For example such data may show; popularity of qualifications, popularity of IT technologies and disciplines, what a ‘typical’ IT profile for certain job titles looks like, identify popular IT qualifications we don’t offer so we can source providers of this learning. These examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be an exhaustive list.

Controlling and amending your information

You can at any time review, delete or change the information you submitted during registration by visiting the "My Profile" section once logged in. You should update your information if it changes.  Please contact The National Skills Academy for IT if you would like your personal information removed. We will retain in our files information you have requested to remove in some circumstances, such as to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems and enforce our Terms & Conditions. Further, such prior information is never completely removed from our databases due to technical constraints and the fact that we back up our systems. Therefore, you should not expect that all of your personally identifiable information will be completely removed from our databases in response to your requests that it be removed.

Third Party sites

Any third party display advertisements or links to third party sites shown on our site may collect user information if you click or follow their instructions. This includes our ShareThis and AddThis buttons and links and content from social media sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+, YouTube, Vimeo, paper.li and more. This is not an exhaustive or complete list of the services we use, or might use in the futureWe do not control any data collected voluntarily or involuntarily through these advertisements or third party sites. You should investigate the privacy policies of any such site if you have concerns about its collection and use of user information.

Updating the privacy policy

The National Skills Academy for IT may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. Please check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of the National Skills Academy for IT site following the posting of changes to this Statement means you accept the changes we make.
