Appointing a business systems analyst may seem like an unnecessary expense in the short-term, but they will provide significant return on investment in the longer term and will provide crucial assistance to any IT manager. This is because they ensure project requirements are correct from the outset, which will cut down on the amount of costly rework that is often needed as time goes on.

There are a number of key risks that can all too easily lead to an IT project failure, but it is the job of a business analyst to work with IT to deal with at least some of them by acting as an effective communications bridge.
