Information is key to success for any modern business. But there’s a downside, as that information has incredible value – to you and often to others too. Losing your data will put your business in breach of company regulations and, more importantly, at risk of losing your customers’ trust. Lose data, and you stand a very good chance of losing business.

Data loss prevention (DLP) tools are designed to prevent critical information leaving a corporate network. Operating at various points in the network, IT managers can use these tools to monitor content for keywords. Once keywords and phrases have been found, you can either redact messages or remove them and replace them with a warning, as well as logging all the times they’ve occurred to educate users about mistakes, or to discipline persistent offenders.
