Data in its raw or unstructured form is generally seen as being of little value until its form and function is classified, managed and controlled. With cloud computing now making serious inroads into our IT infrastructures, talk is turning to terms such as ‘big data’ and suddenly we are moving from megabytes to terabytes (or even petabytes) of dynamic, fast moving data. So what is big data? What is unstructured data? And what do these terms mean for companies working with massive dataset challenges?
