About Colchester Institute
Colchester Institute is proud of its dynamic approach to training and development. The College offers a range of courses in Computing/IT, developed using links to industry to ensure the knowledge and skills gained are vocationally relevant in the fast moving IT world. The courses provide a broad base of computing knowledge but also allow students to specialise in areas such as networking, security, web development and programming.
Colchester Institute offers a range of Level 2 and 3 apprenticeship programmes, developed with local employers to ensure that the content is relevant and delivery is achieved through the effective combination of work and college based assessment. The college is continually expanding the range of the provision at all levels within the sector and keen to work in partnership with leading providers.
In addition to our apprenticeship programmes, we also offer the following qualifications: Certificate of Higher Education in Computing Solutions, HNC/HND in Computing and System Development and BSc (Hons) in Computing Solutions. These programmes are continually being updated to ensure that they include material that meets current industry needs, including areas of increasing importance such as mobile programming and cybersecurity.
Colchester Institute is a registered Cisco Academy with active suites at our Colchester and Witham sites allowing students practical training to support Networking qualifications. The college has well established links with the University of Essex and Anglian Ruskin University which assist our aim of ensuring vocational relevance alongside educational integrity.The College is a registered Training provider with the National Skills Academy for IT.
Colchester Institute operates from campuses at Colchester, the College at Braintree, the College at Clacton and the Learning Shop in Witham.
