Employability for students
Helping IT graduates prepare for the needs of today’s businesses
The National Skills Academy for IT is running an employer-led, pilot project from now until the end of March to deliver an industry-backed skills development package for students studying computing, computer science and IT related degrees. With co-investment from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills through the Employer Investment Fund, this industry readiness programme seeks to address the issue of the number of computing graduates successfully securing a career in IT on graduation.
More specifically this programme is looking to provide IT students with:
- Tools to assess their current skills and identify the gaps that they need to address to secure their desired IT job
- Training towards industry-valued certifications that demonstrate vocational competence
- A wide range of experience in a work environment to help them become ‘business ready’
In addition the programme is also focusing on how to encourage more females into the IT industry.
We are looking for Employers, particularly SMEs to take part in this pilot programme.
If you are an employer who is passionate about developing young IT talent in the UK, we would be keen for you to be involved in this pilot project. Your participation in this programme would involve: supporting workshops / mock interviews / challenges for the students; providing a selection of your staff to act as mentors and hosting visits to your offices.
This is a great opportunity to engage with some of the brightest IT graduates in the UK and shape the skills they acquire prior to joining businesses such as you.
